Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress who is best recognized for her performances in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Originally from Worthington Ohio she quit high school in order to relocate to Los Angeles with her mother following her divorce from her parents. While struggling financially she landed her first role as the title character in the web-based video series Rachel's Room in 2001. The role she played of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. film Murder in Greenwich in 2002, earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford played Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons of 2004 and she shared the Screen Actors Guild Award (with all the other actors) alongside her. Grace was a co-star with Tom Welling on The Fog in the year 2005, was looking to go to film. She was on the screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 and Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. She reprised her role in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version to Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised the role as Shannon in two episodes of Lost including the series finale. In 2013 she appears in the sixth season of Californication. The character she plays is Faith who's an avid stargazer as well as a groupie. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Part of the Gyllenhaal family She is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager she appeared in small roles in the films of her father and was co-starring with her brother in Donnie Darko the cult classic. Later, she was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics in both of her roles as a lead character of Secretary (2002) which is which is an erotic romantic drama and Sherrybaby (2006). The actress was also nominated by the Golden Globe Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). In 2009, she received a nomination as the Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her portrayal of a single mother in Crazy Heart. In the following years, she appeared in dramas and comedies which included Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 Her other roles include a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) a musician in the film Frank (2014) and her role as the lead in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
